BSA Patches For Daniel Webster Council -

Mead Wilderness Base

Mead Wilderness Base was located in Sandwich, NH. The property consisted of 22 acres and was leased in 1953 from the White Mountain National Forest to DWC. A variety of wilderness trips were conducted from there. The Base was closed at the end of the 1999 season and the program operated out of Parker Mountain Reservation in conjunction with the Boston Minuteman Council as the White Mountain High Adventure Base (WMHAB). After a short stint as a joint partnership, the program was reestablished out of Griswold Scout Reservation(GSR) with the same name (WMHAB). In 2006, the WMHAB programs were merged into the summer camp program offerings at GSR as the Valley Voyageurs. Treks included trips to the White Mountains as well as the backcountry at GSR. In 2020 GSR introduced a new program of high adventure, Granite High Adventure which will include three off-site treks; Belknap Range, White Mountains and Northern Rivers but was postponed until 2021.
